Man jailed for 13 years after stabbing neighbour

A man has been jailed for 13 years for fatally stabbing his neighbour.
Samuel Moore, 55, of Pleasant View, Midgley, near Halifax, was sentenced after being convicted of manslaughter earlier at Bradford Crown Court.
The court heard how Moore had called police on 31 October 2023 to say he had stabbed Karl Williams, 58, following an argument.
Mr Williams’ family said his death had “left a huge gap in our family”.
Following the sentencing, they said in a statement: “We as a family are grateful to the jury for providing us with justice for Karl.
“There are no winners only losers in this case we have lost our much-loved brother, uncle, great uncle, partner and a friend to many.
"Another family has also lost a son to a prison sentence."
Jurors found Moore guilty after hearing that he had initially called police that afternoon to report a verbal disagreement with Mr Williams.
While the call operator was logging his report, the line cut off after Moore went to stand in the doorway of his flat and an altercation occurred between the pair.
Moore then phoned again and told the operator that he had stabbed Mr Williams.
When emergency crews arrived, Mr Williams was found critically injured and despite medical attention he died at the scene.
'Tragic turn'
Det Insp Eleanor Buchanan said she hoped the sentencing brought Mr Williams' family some comfort "knowing the person responsible for his death has been jailed”.
“What appeared to be a relatively low-level neighbour dispute took a violent and tragic turn, resulting in the loss of a life," she said.
“There can never be any justification for those who seek to settle their differences with extreme violence such as this.”
