Engineers are "working hard" to restore the power after damage was caused, said SSEN

Almost 200 homes in a village are currently without power.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), said the unplanned fault was affecting 177 homes in West Lavington, near Devizes in Wiltshire.

"We have had reports of damage to our network by a third party, which has in turn caused the power to go off," a spokesperson said.

Power has been out since just after 11:00 BST and engineers are aiming to restore it by 20:00.

The outage is affecting 12 postcodes in the SN10 area.

"We know where this damage has taken place and our teams are working hard to make the situation safe," said the SSEN spokesperson.

"These type of faults often require extensive work and specialist teams, which is why the restoration time seems so far away," they added.
