A girl was taken to hospital with black eyes after being attacked by two people wearing face coverings.

The incident happened at St John's Church yard in Yeovil, Somerset, at about 22:30 BST on Friday, police said.

Avon and Somerset Police want to speak to three men who helped the victim after the assault, which is being treated as an isolated incident.

The force said it had arrested two teenage girls, aged 16 and 18, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. They have since been released on bail.

The victim, who is in her late-teens, also sustained other bruises and cuts and is now recovering at home, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident has been urged to contact police.
