Teenagers armed with a knife stole a mountain bike from children.

It happened near a car wash on Hutton Road in Middlesbrough at about 18:00 GMT on Saturday.

Cleveland Police said a group of teenage boys, aged about 15, threatened to assault the children, aged between 12 and 13, before taking the blue-framed Trek bike.

When the children tried to stop them, one of the teenagers lifted his waistband to show he had a knife, the force added.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
