Road closed as emergency crews deal with collision

Drivers have been advised to avoid a road in South Yorkshire following a collision.

Wombwell Lane in Barnsley was closed between the junctions of Aldham Crescent and Aldham House Lane in Stairfoot, Barnsley, on Monday evening, South Yorkshire Police said.

South Yorkshire Fire Service said that three of its crews were at the scene dealing with the incident, with the road likely to be closed for several hours.

A police spokesperson said: "We are advising people to avoid the area and plan an alternative route if possible."
