A father and son have been jailed after an innocent member of the public was pinned against a wall by a stolen Range Rover, resulting in his leg being amputated.

The victim, who is in his 20s, was found badly injured on Etches Close, Bournemouth, on 7 October.

Vinny Morgan, 21, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court to 13 years and six months in prison after being found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent, conspiracy to commit affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

His 55-year-old father Conrad Morgan was also convicted of conspiracy to commit affray and possessing an offensive weapon. He was jailed for nine months.

The pair had been carrying baseball bats and were seen on CCTV having an altercation with two other men.

Dorset Police said the victim went to assist the men and, as he was doing so, the stolen 4x4 was driven directly at him. He initially jumped out of the way, but Vinny Morgan reversed and drove at him again.

The driver then left the scene.

The vehicle was found abandoned on nearby Hoxley Road and officers were able to link it to the attack through blood on the front of the car.

The pair were arrested the following morning.

Det Sgt Sarah Hodgson said: "This was a shockingly violent and dangerous act involving a vehicle deliberately being driven at an innocent member of the public.

"The victim has suffered a horrendous injury as a result. The actions of these defendants could easily have resulted in a fatality."
