Passengers to Gatwick Airport are warned to expect delays due to a landslip

A landslip has caused disruption to passengers travelling to Gatwick Airport.

The slip was reported on Monday between the airport's station and Three Bridges, blocking one of the lines on the route.

National Rail said Gatwick Express services will not be running and urged passengers to allow an extra 30 minutes for journeys.

A spokesperson for Network Rail said: "We're sorry to customers who are experiencing disruption as a result of a landslip between Three Bridges and Gatwick Airport."

They said that engineers have been on site since Monday afternoon monitoring the track for movement.

The spokesperson added: "We will need to fully repair the landslip that is underneath the track.

"We're working urgently on a plan for that ensures that as many trains as possible can pass through the area, although there will continue to be delays, cancellations and changes to train services until further notice."

Passengers are being advised to check before they travel with their rail operator for the latest information.
