Emergency resurfacing works took place due to a collision

A collision that resulted in a large diesel spillage closed a major road for about 12 hours.

Police were called to the A421 southbound carriageway, between the A6 north and south junctions, at Kempston in Bedford, at about 18:40 GMT before the road was closed shortly after on Tuesday.

National Highways said on social media, external the spillage following the crash required emergency resurfacing works.

Bedfordshire Police said there were no reported injuries and the road was reopened at about 07:30.
