'Pathological liar' jailed for attempted murder
- Published
A woman who attempted to murder a man by stabbing him more than 30 times has been jailed for 25 years.
Essex Police said Lucinda Fyfield armed herself with a 12in (30cm) kitchen knife for the attack at her home in Gilders Way, Clacton-on-Sea, on 11 May.
The 39-year-old victim was left permanently scarred, underwent emergency surgery and survived.
Fyfield - described by the force as a "pathological liar" - was convicted of attempted murder after a five-day trial.
She paused during the attack to smoke a cigarette before attempting to take her own life, detectives said.
Fyfield was also treated at hospital before later being charged and remanded in custody.
The judge imposed an indefinite restraining order, banning Fyfield from contacting the victim.
Det Madison Duffus said the man faced an "undeniably terrible attack".
"Fyfield has proven herself to be a pathological liar and very dangerous individual," the officer said.
"Despite the months between this incident and the trial, she has never offered an explanation for this attack, or showed any remorse."
