Stoke-on-Trent City Council has been given £31m to improve bus services

Thirteen new bus routes have been announced for Stoke-on-Trent as part of plans to improve public transport in the city.

The new journeys are in addition to those introduced earlier this year, and will include some operating evening and at weekends.

Once the new routes have been introduced they are only currently scheduled to run until March 2026.

The scheme is part of the wider Bus Service Improvement Plan, paid for by £31m of funding from the Department for Transport.

Last week, the city council announced that it had also received an additional sum of almost £10m to improve the local bus network.

Councillor Finlay Gordon-McCusker said: "Through our Bus Service Improvement Plan we have introduced discounted bus fares, upgraded our most popular bus stops across the city and introduced essential new bus services.

"Now we want to keep the momentum going by working closely with our local bus operators to introduce even more bus journeys."
