People are being urged to check on their neighbours as Lincolnshire is set to face a cold snap this weekend.
The Met Office has issued yellow warnings across the country as snow and ice is forecast over the next three days.
Ian Reed, head of emergency planning for the county council, said people should take the time to check on neighbours, family and friends, and especially the elderly, to ensure they are warm and have food available.
Reed said: "Just make sure they're OK and comfortable. It's that group [elderly] really that can be affected by adverse weather conditions, such as extreme cold."
He added: "If you do have to go out and drive, make sure that you drive to the conditions and that your car is winter ready. Don't drive at excessive speeds."
Lincolnshire Police advised drivers to take extra care and to pack essential items, such as blankets, charges and torches in vehicles in case of emergencies.
The force encourages those driving to do so with caution by increasing braking distance and driving slowly and smoothly.
The Met Office also encourages, external those isolated due to snow to stay indoors and wear layers of loose fitting lightweight clothing and to create a comfortable space for pets.
