A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman's body was discovered at a property in Worcester.

The 49-year-old woman was found dead at an address on Carlisle Road, at about 07:00 BST pm Wednesday, West Mercia Police said.

Officers were called in by paramedics, and said her death was being treated as unexplained. A 48-year-old man was later arrested.

Det Insp Joanne Delahay said she wanted "to offer some reassurance that there is no risk to the wider public".

She said inquiries were ongoing to establish the full circumstances that led up to the woman's death.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the woman who has sadly passed away," Det Insp Delahay continued.

"Local officers will be [in] the area as they conduct their house-to-house enquiries - please do speak to them if you have any concerns."
