'Extremely lucky' ditch flip driver is jailed

An "extremely lucky" motorist who had to be rescued from a water-filled ditch in the Fens has been jailed for drink driving.
Edgaras Jucikas, 28, from Beck Row, Suffolk, admitted to drinking about four pints of beer before the crash at Westmoor Drove on 14 June.
A witness told police they saw Jucikas' car leave the road and flip into the ditch, where it was discovered overturned and partially submerged.
He admitted drink driving, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, breaching his community order, failing to appear - and possession of a class C.
On Monday, magistrates in Norwich sentenced Jucikas to four years in prison and he was disqualified from driving for four-and-a-half years.
Police said they carried out a roadside breath test after the crash and Jucikas blew 75, just over twice the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100ml of breath.
PC Baillie Morgan-Heritage said: “Jucikas is extremely lucky to be here today.
"If it wasn’t for a member of the public seeing his vehicle leave the road, he could’ve gone into the ditch without anyone knowing or being able to seek help.
"Drinking affects your reaction times, your vision and your ability to concentrate. As Jucikas demonstrated, drink drivers put their lives at risk by getting behind the wheel, not to mention the lives of other road users."
