Madia Kauser saved her daughter's life by pushing her away from the falling branch

Nothing could have been done to prevent the death of a mother who was killed by a falling tree branch as she walked through a park with her family, a council said.

Madia Kauser, 32, died in Witton Country Park in Blackburn as she walked with her husband and two children on 11 August.

Blackburn With Darwen Council's Phil Riley said the authority had "received expert advice that there was no precautionary work that could have been carried out that would have prevented this desperately sad incident".

A investigation into her death is being conducted by Lancashire Police, the council and the Health And Safety Executive.

In the days after Ms Kauser's death, her family said she had pushed her daughter out of the way as the branch began to fall.

Emergency services tried to save Ms Kauser but she died at the scene.

An inquest into her death was formally opened by Coroner Richard Taylor at Preston Coroner's Court on 21 August with a full hearing scheduled at Accrington Town Hall for 14 November.

Her family said they were "devastated and heartbroken at losing our beloved Madia".
