Smoke and flames could be seen on the coast side of the BIC building
A fire has broken out at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) entertainment and conference complex.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said it was dealing with a fire affecting the exterior of the building on Exeter Road, which started shortly after 19:30 BST.
It said the fire affected the external roof fascia with some smoke entering the building through a window.
Crews are remaining on the scene to dampen down. Investigations are ongoing into the cause of the fire.
Images on social media earlier showed smoke and flames coming from the coast-facing side of the building.
The BIC opening in 1984 and is Bournemouth's main entertainment complex, regularly hosting large-scale events including concerts and the main political party conferences.
The venue's website had no events listed for Monday evening.
