An investigation into a pub "altercation" involving Lincolnshire's former deputy police and crime commissioner (PCC) has been dropped, with no further action to be taken.

Philip Clark resigned in March, a few weeks before his term of office was due to end on 2 May.

Lincolnshire Police said it arrested a man in his 50s on 20 March on suspicion of affray and perverting the course of justice, following an incident reported to have happened in a pub near Lincoln 10 days earlier.

A force spokesperson said: "Having sought charging advice from the Crown Prosecution Service, a decision has been made to finalise the case as 'no further action'."

Mr Clark's resignation was announced by Marc Jones, the PCC, on 22 March.

He was a former inspector with Lincolnshire Police, serving from 1995 until January 2022 when he took up the deputy role.

Former teaching assistant Sara Munton was appointed as the new deputy PCC following a Lincolnshire Police and Crime Panel confirmation hearing on 2 August.
