A carnival celebrating African and Caribbean culture has returned to a city for the first time in 40 years.
Organisers of Peterborough's Culture Community Carnival, in Cathedral Square, said they wanted it to be a celebration of happiness and to "bring communities together".
Local schoolchildren took part in Saturday's parade and helped design the colourful costumes.
Precious Graham, one of the organisers, said: "I never experienced a carnival in Peterborough before, so I thought I would love my children, the next generation, to experience it, so hopefully they can take it over and it can be something that happens annually."
