Plans to knock down The Grange and build new homes received 111 objections from residents

Plans to demolish a large historic house and build 22 homes in its place have been withdrawn.

Redevelopment proposals for The Grange, in Endon, Staffordshire, had been recommended for refusal by planning officers amid more than 100 objections from residents.

Residents had concerns about traffic congestion, over development of the site, the environmental impact and a lack of affordable homes.

But the planning application was withdrawn , externalon Thursday, shortly before it was due to be considered by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council's planning committee.

Endon with Stanley Parish Council had also objected to the redevelopment scheme, while Severn Trent said it was uncertain whether there was enough capacity to accommodate the new homes.

Planning officers also thought the development was too close to an area of ancient woodlands and that insufficient information had been provided in relation to highways and flooding.

This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
