The Charity Commission said it had opened a statutory inquiry into the charities connected to the Guru Nanak Gurdwara

Two Sikh charities connected to a West Midlands temple are being investigated, said the Charity Commission.

Concerns were raised by members of the congregation of Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Wednesfield, relating to one charity set up in 1980 not being registered and a second being formed in 2024, the commission said.

By failing to register by April this year, the charity faces misconduct allegations, while the commission added it was also investigating the new charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) created last year.

The inquiry will examine if the trustees have complied with their legal duties and responsibilities regarding the administration, governance, and management of both charities.
