A 26-year-old who stabbed a man in a "horrific" attack outside a McDonald's branch over "messages sent to his girlfriend" has been jailed.
Jacob Fores left the victim with two stab wounds and a large cut to the top of his head after the attack in Worksop in the early hours of 22 July 2024, Nottinghamshire Police said.
The victim spent five days in hospital and was unable to work for three months while he recovered from injuries that medics told him could have been fatal, the force added.
Fores of Sherwood Road, Worksop, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and was sentenced to five years and 10 months in prison at Nottingham Crown Court on 13 October.
Nottinghamshire Police said the stabbing took place after the victim had exchanged messages via Facebook with Fores and Fores' girlfriend, Leanne Marcer.
The victim and Fores exchanged voice notes that led to the pair meeting for a fight which police said the victim believed would be a fist fight.
Fores approached him from the back corner of the McDonald's car park in Mills Way, before striking him with a weapon, believed to be a wrench, the force said.
Police said the court heard Fores then fled the scene and went to Marcer's address, which prompted the victim to follow.
Fores – now armed with a knife – and Marcer – who was armed with a curtain pole – confronted the victim in the street, before Fores chased him down to the junction of Mills Way and Retford Road where the stabbing took place, police said.
Leanne Marcer, 45, of Potter Street, Worksop, admitted affray and was given an 18-month community order comprising of 25 rehabilitation activity days and was ordered to do 40 hours of unpaid work at Nottingham Crown Court on 13 October.
Marcer was also ordered to complete 12-months of mental health treatment as a non-residential patient.
Det Con India Woodrow, said: "This was a horrific attack that happened on a main public street in Worksop, where a knife was used to inflict injuries that could easily have been fatal."
