Takeaway plan approved despite being near school

The pizza restaurant will be 175 yards away from Oasis Academy

Plans for a takeaway restaurant have been approved despite being near a secondary school.
Domino's Pizza made the application for Kennedy Way in Immingham, North East Lincolnshire, about 175 yards (160m) from Oasis Academy.
North East Lincolnshire Council has a policy of rejecting plans for fast food shops within 400m (about 440 yards) of schools.
However, its planning committee was told the rule was "more generous" for applications in town centres.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the plan was initially opposed by Immingham Town Council.
It had concerns about anti-social behaviour and where delivery drivers would park.
After getting more information about the plans, the town council withdrew its objection.
The planning application said the shop would operate between 11:00 and 23:00 and would create the equivalent of 25 full-time jobs.
Council member Henry Hudson told the meeting: "I think if this was brought before us because of an objection that's now been dropped, I think this investment should be welcomed and we should approve it."
The application was approved unanimously.
