A school wants to install hundreds of solar panels on its roof.

New Silksworth Academy in Sunderland has submitted plans for 295 solar panels which it says would maximise its potential to generate zero-carbon electricity.

A design and access statement submitted with the plans claimed glint and glare from the panels was unlikely, but if it happened it would be at a small scale and would "easily go unnoticed".

A decision on the proposals is expected later this year after a consultation.
