A motorcyclist in his 30s has died in a crash that shut a major Nottinghamshire road.

Nottinghamshire Police said the crash involved a small blue motorbike and a dark blue/black BMW car on the A60 in Ravenshead just after 00:00 BST on Monday.

The motorcyclist died at the scene, the force added.

The road - between the Larch Farm crossroads and Newstead Abbey turn-in - was closed while investigation work took place, but police confirmed it had reopened at 13:35.

Det Con Emma Temple, of the serious collision investigation unit, said: "This is a tragic incident and we are currently working to understand the full circumstances.

"As part of our ongoing inquiries we are urging any motorists who were in the area around the time of the crash to contact us with any information that they think could help our investigation."
