Police and safety inspectors have handed over a "comprehensive collection" of information about a fatal explosion in a block of flats to the Law Officers Department, investigators say.

Ten people died in the explosion in the Haut du Mont residential block on Pier Road, St Helier, on 10 December 2022.

The States of Jersey Police and the Health and Safety Inspectorate said initial case files of evidence, documents and expert opinions had been given to law officers so charges could be considered.

Three men arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter, were interviewed and released on bail in August 2023 and again in April. They have not been not charged.

Officers said investigation teams would continue to gather material and make further inquiries while family liaison officers continued to support the bereaved families.

Jersey police said its officers had worked on 2,024 lines of inquiries, 1,157 statements and 1,988 exhibits as part of Operation Spire.

Operation Spire has two investigations being run alongside each other by police and the Health and Safety Inspectorate.
