Plans have been submitted to turn a derelict factory building into 14 apartments.

The two-storey building on Temple Street, Wolverhampton, would have an additional floor added, according to the proposals.

Applicant Bharya DBC Ltd said that the roof would be raised and details at the front of the building would be preserved.

The former lock works was not considered a heritage asset which meant there were no direct issues with the development, the applicant added.

The building is part of the former Scarboro' Works, external site, with the current structure said to date back to the inter-war years early last century.

Most of the site was demolished several years ago, making way for a car park.

Planning documents, external said the building was "falling into a state of disrepair" through lack of use, and that new homes would be well connected with main roads, bus routes and the city centre.

City of Wolverhampton Council will consider the plans in due course.
