E-bike crash leads to drug and knife charges

A man has been charged with drug offences and possession of a blade after he was involved in a crash with a vehicle while riding his e-bike.

Jahred Tafari, 25, of Beech Avenue, Swindon, was arrested following the incident on 12 September at 12.30 BST when police responded to the collision in Pembroke Gardens.

The drugs charge was for possession with intent to supply cocaine and heroin.

He appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and has been remanded into custody ahead of his next court appearance.

Police Sergeant Deller team said: “This incident involved excellent collaborative work with the community assisting the police, and I want to thank them for that.

“We always take drugs and weapons offences incredibly seriously and we would always encourage anybody who has information or intelligence on these offences to please report it to us."
