A bird of prey needed firefighters to come to her rescue after she got stuck in a tree.

Milly, the red-tailed hawk, was unable to get away after a tether around her ankle got caught in the branches of the tree at Ludlow Racecourse on Monday at about 18:55 BST, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

A fire crew used a 9m ladder to reach her and free her.

She was checked over by her owner and was not hurt, the brigade said.
