Ports applies for permission to strengthen ramp

Ports of Jersey has applied for planning permission to strengthen a pedestrian ramp in Elizabeth Harbour in St Helier.
Ports applied for permission to replace the support - known as a bankseat - for one of the ramps allowing access to the Albert Pier pontoons.
A spokesperson said: "The original bankseat was built to serve roll-on roll-off ferries, but its supporting piles are in poor condition."
Ports said the work would begin next year and it expected to last six months

Access to the end of the pier for local businesses, anglers and pedestrians will be maintained during the demolition phase, Ports said.
