A man suffered facial injuries after he was punched and then hit by a passing car when he fell into the road.
Gloucestershire Police said officers want to speak to witnesses after the altercation in front of Robinswood Children's Centre, in Gloucester, at about 15:00 GMT on 9 January.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was struck in the face by another man and fell into the road where he was hit by a passing car, the force said.
He suffered a broken jaw from the punch, which required surgery.
A 44-year-old man from Gloucester was arrested on suspicion of assault and later released under investigation.
Police say they have conducted house-to-house enquiries and are now appealing for witnesses, or people with dashcam footage to come forward.
