Man charged after police officer injured

A man has been charged with the assault of a police officer.

The 26-year-old, of Carlisle, is accused of causing the officer grievous bodily harm with intent to resist arrest on 17 August, at about 9:55 BST at The Crescent in the city.

He is due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 16 September.

Cumbria Police said the officer's arm was injured.

The force is appealing for anyone with information or dash cam footage to contact it.
