Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said it had been conducting extensive searches and was "extremely concerned" for his welfare.

The RNLI's all-weather lifeboat from Cowes and inshore lifeboats from Bembridge and Yarmouth are also searching the water, along with Ryde Inshore Rescue lifeboat.

Police are urging anyone with information on Mr Koppany's whereabouts to dial 999.
