Ladies golf club celebrates 100 years

A ladies golf club in Jersey is urging more women to come forward and join as it celebrates its 100th birthday.
St Clements Ladies Golf Club opened six months before the Men's Club did on the island in 1924.
Last year, the club won an England Golf Award for being a "women and girls trailblazer".
Member Olivia French-Wood said there had "been a real buzz" and it was "nice to celebrate".
Club Secretary, Liz Bird, said she had been "looking forward to this year for some time".
She said after the coronavirus pandemic the club was "low on numbers" and had 20 members.
Ms Bird said now they have 55.
"We didn't think we'd get to our centenary," she added.
Ms French-Wood said she hoped more women would take up the sport.
'Younger people'
She said: "My daughter's nine and we've had her with a golf club in her hand since she's been about three to try and encourage her.
"It's always been seen as a sport for more middle-aged people to play but it's really nice to encourage younger people as well.
"Particularly to get women involved, it's a great sport, it really is."
Earlier in the week there was a women's open to celebrate the milestone.
