  • Published

Police are investigating after a mosque had its windows damaged.

A number of windows at Ivor House in Tower Lane, Taunton, were smashed at about 06:40 BST on Saturday, according to Avon and Somerset Police.

The force has now released images of two men they want to speak to in connection with the damage.

Taunton and Wellington MP Gideon Amos condemned the incident as "weak and cowardly" and said the perpetrators "are not welcome in our town".

Mr Amos added: "To those who smash up any part of our town- you will be caught, you will be punished with the full weight of the law and you deserve to be."

One of the men investigators wish to speak to is described as white, around 6ft (1m83) tall, between 20 to 30 years old and wearing a red coat and beige cargo trousers.

The second is described as white, short, between 20 and 30 years old, with a ginger beard, wearing a checkered red jacket, blue jeans and a white shirt.

Police said CCTV enquiries have been carried out and it plans to undertake further analysis of the scene.

Anybody who recognises the men or who may have relevant CCTV or doorbell/dashcam footage is asked to contact the police.
