Death of woman in street treated as 'unexplained'

The death of a woman who was found unconscious in a street is being treated as unexplained.

Cleveland Police said officers were called by the ambulance service at 09:40 BST where the woman in her 40s was found at the junction of Lord Street and Alfred Street in Redcar.

She was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later and her family has been informed.

The Cleveland force has appealed for anyone who assisted at the scene to contact them.
