A man is due to appear before magistrates in Leeds later

A man has been charged with arson after a police van was set on fire on Saturday.

West Yorkshire Police said the incident happened in Leeds city centre on Saturday afternoon.

Hakam Ghaith, 29, of Sandhurst Terrace, Leeds, has been charged and remanded in custody, a spokesperson for the force said.

He is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court later.
