Speed limit to be changed outside school

Longden is one of 20 schools in Shropshire that will see speed restrictions introduced by March

Roadworks are set to cause disruption outside a school near Shrewsbury.
A 20mph speed limit will be put in place by Longden School to improve the safety of children, residents and other users of the road during peak times.
It is one of 20 schools in Shropshire set to see speed restrictions introduced by March, with signs and new road markings installed.
Work will start during half term, with Shrewsbury Road closed from 29 October to 31 October, from 09.30 BST to 15:00 BST each day.
Ducting and cabling for the electrics for the signs will be installed under the surface of the road as part of the work and the route would have to be shut, because it is too narrow for the work to be done under temporary traffic lights, officials said.
At a later date, temporary lights will be used as the work is finished to complete the electrical connections and put up the signs.
The work cannot be completed during half term as Shropshire Council is still waiting on some equipment, so there will be some disruption during term time, said Caroline Higgins, Longden Parish Council's clerk.
"The school will be kept informed nearer the time and will be able to share the information with parents," said Ms Higgins.
A signed diversion will be in place during the closures, said the council, and any changes to the works will be displayed on yellow advance warning signs and on the One Network, external roadworks website.
