A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man's body was discovered at a property.
Thames Valley Police said it received a report that the body of the 63-year-old had been found at an address in Terry Road in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, at 18:45 BST on Friday.
A 65-year-old woman, known to the victim, was arrested and remained in police custody, the force said.
Det Ch Insp Nicola Underhill said the force did not think there was "any threat to the wider public".
"We are in the early stages of a complex investigation, but we are following a number of lines of inquiry to establish the full circumstances," she said.
"Members of the public are likely to see an increased police presence in the area while we investigate and we would advise anyone with any concerns to please speak to one of our uniformed officers."
The force said a police cordon had been set up at the scene, which was in a residential area.
The man's next-of-kin had also been told of his death and were being supported by family liaison officers, a spokesperson said.
The man was yet to be formally identified.
