Stoke-on-Trent is to host its first ever comedy festival this May, the city council has announced.
The authority has partnered with Me & Mrs Jones Comedy to bring the inaugural event to The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery in Hanley.
The two-day festival will include comedians Shazia Mirza, Steve Royle, Scott Bennett, Nathan Caton, Justin Moorhouse and Kiri Pritchard-McLean.
Council leader Jane Ashworth said the city was rich with culture, and that it was "superb" to host the event at the museum.
“They say comedy is the best type of medicine and I couldn’t agree more,” she said.
Comedian Kiri Pritchard-McLean added: "I’m so excited to be performing at the inaugural Stoke-on-Trent Comedy Festival.
“I’ve always had such fun with Stoke-on-Trent audiences when I’ve gigged here in the past and now I’ve finally been able to use the word inaugural in a sentence."
The festival will take place on 10 and 11 May. Tickets are available to book online.
