A Bristol nightclub that has been open for 25 years has announced it is closing.

Dojo, on Park Row, is one of the city's longest-running independent venues.

The management team said the "challenging" economic circumstances facing the industry have made it impossible to remain open.

"It has been one hell of a ride, and we are proud to have been a part of Bristol's scene," they added.

The team behind the club said they had strived to provide a space for underground sounds to thrive in the city.

The closure is "another blow" to the city's nightlife, they added.

In a statement, the management team expressed their "heartfelt gratitude" to everybody who has supported the venue over the years.

"Your passion, energy, and loyalty have made this venue the special place.

"We want to thank all the DJs, promoters, staff, and, most importantly, the loyal clubbers who have made Dojo Nightclub such an integral part of Bristol's scene.

"Your memories and the legacy of this venue will live on."
