The Trowbridge Flower Show will open this weekend with more than 50 window displays in the town.

Businesses, organisations and charities across the county town have taken part in an effort to bring "colour, nature and increased footfall" to Trowbridge.

There will also be floral sculptures and eco-activities during the festival, which runs until 16 June.

Visitors and locals alike will be able to follow the trail through the town and enter a competition to win cinema tickets, gardening sets, and other prizes.

There will also be demonstrations and talks

Window displays in the town will be judged by a team of local councillors and business owners.

Other events include a weavers market, studio open days and gardening talks and demonstrations during the week long show.

Kez Garner, Chair of the Trowbridge Chamber CIC said: "The Chamber of Commerce decided just a few weeks ago to create a Flower Festival trail to celebrate old and new businesses and to add colour to our town centre.

"The town is undergoing considerable regeneration and has rather a lot of scaffolding and road works in it this summer.

"We love organising town trails with prizes as a fun way to increase footfall in and around the centre and to introduce people to new places and businesses they may not have visited before," he added.

"There are some wonderful floral creations taking shape, from tea party, football and floral lions to colourful window displays, hanging baskets, planters and flower-related activities."
