Attempted murder probe after stabbing

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a knife attack in Weston-super-Mare.

The victim, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening stab wounds after the incident at about 21:00 BST on Sunday.

Armed officers and paramedics attended the stabbing, which happened on Alexandra Parade, after it was spotted on CCTV.

"Initial enquiries lead us to believe this was an isolated incident involving people known to each other," an Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said.

Four men, aged 23, 28, 33 and 53 were detained by armed officers at a nearby property. A knife was also recovered.

The suspects remain in police custody and are being questioned by detectives.

"CCTV continues to be reviewed and specialist crime scene investigators will soon examine the area," the spokesperson added.

"Neighbourhood officers are targeting their patrols to the Alexandra Parade/ town centre and anyone with concerns about the incident is encouraged to talk to an officer."
