Arrest after lorry overturns in rail bridge strike

Essex Police say High Road in Vange has fully reopened after a lorry struck the railway bridge on Thursday morning and overturned

Police investigating an incident in which a lorry struck a railway bridge and overturned have made an arrest.

Emergency services were called to High Road, Vange, Basildon, shortly after 08:15 BST on Thursday.

The crash caused long traffic delays in the area. The road reopened at about 17:00.

A 55-year-old man, treated after the collision in hospital, has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
