Arrest after lorry overturns in rail bridge strike

Police investigating an incident in which a lorry struck a railway bridge and overturned have made an arrest.

Emergency services were called to High Road, Vange, Basildon, shortly after 08:15 BST on Thursday.

The crash caused long traffic delays in the area. The road reopened at about 17:00.

A 55-year-old man, treated after the collision in hospital, has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

An Essex Police spokesperson has urged witnesses or anyone with more information or get in touch.
