A family has paid tribute to a "loving father, son and brother" who died after being hit by a car.

Sion Jones, 43, died at the scene of the crash at about 21:50 BST on Tuesday on the A525 at Coedpoeth in Wrexham.

His family said the former member of the 22 Regiment Royal Artillery, the Welsh Gunners, was a "well-known character" in the town.

"He had a kind nature and was known to everyone by his smile which would light up a room," the family said in a statement.

They added: "We are all devastated by his passing. He was loved by all of us and will be greatly missed.”

North Wales Police said an investigation into the crash was ongoing.
