A man in his 70s has been left seriously injured after being hit by a car in Doncaster, police have said.

Emergency services were called just before 21:30 BST on Saturday to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a red Kia Niro in Balby Road.

South Yorkshire Police said the pedestrian, a man aged 72, remained in hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the Kia was assisting officers with their inquiries, a force spokesperson added.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage of the collision is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police.
