Flat-bed truck driver dies in crash with Mini and HGV

A man has died following a three-vehicle crash on a motorway flyover in Lanarkshire.

The 50-year-old, who was driving a white Ford Transit flat bed, was pronounced dead at the scene on the A725 Shawhead flyover at its junction with the A8 eastbound slip road.

A red HGV and a black Mini Cooper were also involved in the incident.

Police closed the road for about five-and-a-half hours while an initial investigation into the crash was carried out.

None of the occupants of the other vehicles were injured, but were checked over at the scene.

Officers said inquiries were under way and urged anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward, external.
