Rescue teams search city river for missing woman

Gaynor Lord has been missing for three days

Search and rescue teams have begun searching a river for a missing woman.

Gaynor Lord, 55 was last seen on London Street in Norwich city centre at about 14:35 GMT on Friday.

On the same day, some of her belongings, including clothing, jewellery and a mobile phone were discovered by a member of the public about a mile away (1.6 km) in Wensum Park.

Norfolk Constabulary said she failed to return home from work and officers were concerned for her welfare.

On Monday morning, 10 police vehicles, a police drone and two search and rescue rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) were seen searching the area.

Supt Wes Hornigold said: “We are concerned for Gaynor’s welfare and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen her on Friday afternoon when we believe she would have been travelling on foot.”

Police say their search activity is focused on Wensum Park

Ms Lord is described as white, 5ft 6in (1.67m) tall and with blonde, shoulder-length hair in a bob.

When she was last seen she was wearing a white shirt, yellow tank-top with a large olive-coloured coat and a scarf.

Wensum Park currently remains closed to the public.
