A man has completed a 24-hour run around Guernsey's Footes Lane track, raising money for Guernsey Mind.

Drew Jonkmans ran more than 100 miles (160.9 km) after beginning his challenge on Sunday at 13:00 GMT.

He had been due to run the Half Marathon Des Sables in Egypt, however the event was cancelled due to the current Israel-Gaza conflict.

Mr Jonkmans said he became "quite drowsy" during part of his run, but then had a "second wind".

He said: "Probably one o'clock in the morning was the toughest, I was getting quite drowsy.

"I tried to have a 10-minute nap but my legs were aching so much they wouldn't let me sleep.

"I managed a quick shower and a change of clothes and got a second wind after that."

He decided to raise money for charity Guernsey Mind as part of the challenge.

Mr Jonkmans said the charity was "important to me and my family".

He added: "I think everyone in Guernsey, whether they know it or not, has some sort of connection to someone who's been helped by Guernsey Mind."

According to the runner's fundraising page, he has raised more than £3,500.
