Shepperton Studios to support Surrey businesses

The home of Netflix in Surrey will sponsor local business support over the next five years.
Over the next five years, Shepperton Studios, will provide £100,000 to support startups and small businesses at the Spelthorne Business Hub, Spelthorne Borough Council said.
The scheme will support the hub in "nurturing local entrepreneurship and fostering economic growth in the borough", according to the council.
The studios' director of corporate affairs, Andrew Smith, said the organisation was "delighted" to collaborate with Spelthorne Borough Council to "support, inspire and nurture local businesses".
Shepperton Studios, part of the Pinewood Group, is home to 31 purpose-built sound stages, and is now now the second biggest film studio in the world following an expansion in March which saw Amazon and Netflix taking up long-term residence there.
It has been involved in projects including Mary Poppins Returns, Golden Globe-winning 1917 and the film adaptation of Matilda the Musical, among many others.
Spelthorne Borough Council's deputy chief executive, Terry Collier, said: " I am very pleased that Shepperton Studios have agreed to sponsor the Spelthorne Business Hub.
"Small businesses represent the very backbone of Spelthorne's economy and by helping them to become established and supporting them to thrive, we are investing in the future prosperity of the whole borough."
