Abnormal load due to pass through town

Last month the A137 was closed to allow a large load to leave the Port of Ipswich

A large load is due to be moved through Suffolk on Sunday.

The large piece of transformer equipment that will eventually allow the National Grid to provide renewable energy is expected to leave the Port of Ipswich about 08:00 BST.

It is being taken to the East Anglia Three converter station site on Bullen Lane in Bramford, Suffolk.

The delivery route will run south along the A137 and use the A14 junction 56 to junction 55, where a police escort will temporarily hold traffic.

National Highways East has shared the route the abnormal load will take out of Ipswich

Scottish Power said the load will travel west using the eastbound carriageway and the lane closure is anticipated to take place between 09:00 and 11:00 BST, although times may change due to the complexity of the manoeuvre.

Diversions and parking restrictions will also be in place.

Deliveries have already taken place on two previous weekends and another is due to take place on 14 July.
