A man has appeared before magistrates charged with arson following an explosion at a flat in Leicester.

Leicestershire Police were called to Kelbrook Close, in the Beaumont Leys area of the city, on 24 January.

A 33-year-old man, of Samson Road, in Leicester, was charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered on 28 June, police said.

He appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Friday and is due to appear at Leicester Crown Court on 27 August.
